How to Care for Your Thangka Pendant
Simple care tips for protecting your Thangka pendant from water, scratches, heat, chemicals, and daily wear damage.
A Thangka pendant is a small piece of wearable art, so it should be treated with care. Whether your pendant is hand-painted, printed, sealed, or decorated with detailed artwork, proper care helps preserve its color and appearance.
Avoid wearing your pendant in the shower, pool, sauna, or ocean. Water, steam, salt, and chemicals can affect the surface, cord, metal frame, or protective coating over time.
When applying perfume, lotion, sunscreen, or hair products, put your pendant on last. Chemicals and oils may build up on the surface and reduce the clarity of the artwork.
Store the pendant separately from sharp jewelry, keys, or metal objects. A soft pouch, jewelry box, or clean cloth bag is ideal. This prevents scratches and protects the painted or decorative surface.
To clean the pendant, use a soft dry cloth. Do not scrub aggressively, soak it in water, or use alcohol-based cleaners. Gentle care is better than heavy cleaning.
If you wear your pendant daily, check the cord or chain occasionally. Replace it if it becomes weak or damaged. A meaningful pendant should be secure as well as beautiful.
